We've created bridges to key PIM functionalities to make it easier to perform actions within the PIM.

PX Insights combined with Generative AI

Drive product visibility and clarity by scaling content creation with the authentic voice of your customers through reviews. 

In other words, you can now combine the products customer reviews with our AI-Enhanced Enrichment feature to generate better textual content. It can be done in the Product Edit Form or at scale with the Rule Engine. 

For instance, you can ease your product discovery with better SEO content or create a recommended use attribute to improve search.

Let's look on how to proceed. 

Step 1: Configuration

First, make sure that you have the right permissions enabled to benefit from our AI-Enhanced Enrichment feature directly in the ‘Permissions’ area of your PIM. More details can be found in this article

 

Enable customer reviews as a new source of inputs

  1. In the PIM Settings, select the attribute where you want to leverage the reviews to start generating content with Generative AI. As a reminder, Generative AI is for now working only for attributes type Text & Text area.
  2. Go to the Generative AI tab
  3. From there, activate the toggle “Take customer reviews into account

You can combine customer reviews together with other existing attributes to generate content. To do so, you simply need to select attributes in the field Data to take into account.

 

For now, we take a maximum of 100 customer reviews per product to generate content with Generate AI. 

 

Define prompts

You can use pre-defined prompts from the drop down list. 

You can also define your own custom prompts. Here are some guidelines on how to best write prompts. 

The setup is complete, you can now start generating meaningful content for your customers leveraging the power of AI combined with customer reviews.

 

Step 2: Use Generative AI with customer reviews 

You can use this functionality both from the Product Edit Form or in the Rule Engine. 

Product Edit Form

After enabling AI for the attributes of your choice, you can directly jump to the Product Edit Form (PEF) of one of your product and start generating product content using the Ask AI button. We will generate AI-Enhanced content for your product in a few seconds, using OpenAI ChatGPT's model and the reviews and/or attributes you set up in the settings of your attribute.

Once generated, if you are not satisfied with the content, you can refine it selecting an option in the dropdown list.

We consider reviews that are at least 50 characters long, ordered by creation date, up to a total of 30,000 characters across all selected reviews.

 

Rule Engine

To know on how to best use this functionality combined with the Rule Engine, check this article. Only the ‘Generate attribute value with AI’  option is compatible with reviews. 

 

Good to know for product models/variants: If the reviews are reconciled at the model level, only the attributes editable at the model level will be improved with this functionality. However, if the reviews are visible at the variant level, only the attributes editable at this level will be changed. 

 

To ensure data privacy, our Enterprise agreements with OpenAI (for ChatGPT) strictly limit their use of Akeneo's data solely to text generation for Akeneo's services.

 

Use cases

From the various client interviews we ran, we have identified several powerful use cases to leverage customer reviews as part of the enrichment process, both to improve your product information content as well as your merchandising strategy.

This is a selection of some examples where you can leverage our AI-Enhanced Enrichment.

Ease your product discovery with better SEO content

You can embed the voice of the customer you collect from customer reviews directly in your SEO content in the PIM. 

This is the kind of prompt you can use:

Generate an SEO-friendly marketing description for the product, incorporating insights from customer reviews, while following the constraints I provide. 
Begin with an attention-grabbing introduction, followed by concise, scannable content organized with bullet points.
Highlight the product's unique features with an engaging and enthusiastic tone, integrating relevant keywords naturally. 
The description should not exceed 450 characters and avoid including irrelevant details like internal references, prices, or shipping information.

To improve the discovery of your product on your D2C website, you can create a new attribute sent to your merchandising tool listing the top performing keywords received from customer reviews thanks to Generative AI. This attribute will be hidden for the shopper but will improve their discovery on your website. 

 
Generate a one-sentence description of the recommended uses of the product, focusing solely on its characteristics, and excluding any references to internal details, pricing, or shipping-related information found in reviews.

To improve your merchandising strategy, you can also add new categories to ease your product discovery or even add new attributes options used as filters. 

 

Streamline the product optimization process thanks to Workflows

Addressing functional product issues efficiently requires seamless team collaboration. The PIM facilitates this by integrating PX insights with its powerful Workflow feature. This combination enables you to share valuable product feedback with the right teams (PLM, Product, etc.) directly within the PIM. 

What's new with PX Insights? 

For the workflows product selection, you can now use these 2 new data points as criteria:

  • Rating: Average rate of all reviews for products coming from your customer engagement platform.
  • Number of reviews: Total amount of individual reviews coming from your customer engagement platform.

For convenience, adding products to a workflow can also be done from the Product Grid for managing multiple products at once, or directly within the Product Edit Form for focused attention on a specific product.

In the Product Grid, you can use the Bulk action Add to workflow.

In the Product Edit Form directly, you can add a single product (or the variant belonging to a product model) to a workflow by choosing the target workflow. 

Make sure you have the required permissions to Add Product To Workflow otherwise you will not see these buttons.

Automate actions with the Rules

Streamline your product management process by implementing a rules engine that automates actions based on customer review content and ratings. This automation can save time and resources by automatically triggering actions like:

  • Flagging (or even deactivating) products with consistently low ratings for review
  • Adding products to a top rated category
  • Or even automatically updating product information leveraging the voice of the customer for SEO content.

Compare customers reviews with PIM data to identify concrete areas of improvement

This feature helps you bridge the gap between what customers say and how your products are described. We use AI to analyze customer reviews, highlighting discrepancies with your Product Information Management (PIM) data and providing actionable insights directly in your dashboard. The goal? To empower you to refine product attributes, boost clarity, cut down on returns, and make your products more discoverable.

Step 1: Product selection

  1. Start from the Product Grid
  2. Select the products you want to analyse (maximum 100 products or 100 product models)
  3. Then select the PX Insights analysis button at the bottom of the page

You will automatically be redirected to the PX Insights use cases page.

 

Step 2: Use case

In this step, you simply have to select the Review Analysis for Product Improvement use case at the top of the page and then Launch AI Analyse.

ChatGPT is the model used to process the analysis. 

 

The analysis is done in the background and can take some time. You will receive a notification once it is complete in your PIM notification panel.

 

Step 3: Review the analysis

To access the AI-Generated results, go to the Activity dashboard accessible from the main menu > PX Insights Dashboard > Ratings & Reviews tab

You will get the list of all the analysis you ran including the generated date.

Here is a breakdown of the key information provided in the analysis per product or product model: 

  • The first insight you will get is the Top 5 areas of improvements
  • You can then expand each area of improvement to get:
    • The rationale behind this insight
    • The affected attributes
    • The suggestions for improvement including example of text
  • You can then directly take actions from this dashboard to improve your products right away:
    • Immediately via the Sequential Edit option
    • Integrate them into your existing product data workflows using the Add to workflow button

Step 4: Take actions

Zoom on sequential Edit

  1. When selecting the Sequential Edit button you will be redirected to the product form of the first product of your selection with a progress bar at the bottom of the page.
  2. Enrich the product and click on the button Save and Finish

Route a product batch to an existing workflow, enabling the right users to perform necessary corrective actions.
