Can SDM connect to any Akeneo version?

Yes, SDM can integrate with any version of Akeneo PIM that supports API access.

How does the Akeneo connector work?

The Akeneo connector works in two ways :

  1. It keeps SDM configuration in sync with Akeneo. You only have to manage your Akeneo configuration: families, attributes, attribute values, etc. and SDM will automatically sync (once a week by default) to ensure that new input files match your desired format
  2. It sends everything back to Akeneo. There is no need to create an output format that matches what Akeneo expects as input. Once you’ve finished working on a job, the result will be automatically sent to Akeneo via the API to create/update the products you’ve just worked on.

Can I input data from my PIM into SDM?

Yes you can, you can treat your PIM input as any other supplier file.

Note that this is not included in the connector so you’ll have to either manually download the export and upload it into SDM or use our included SFTP server and an ETL to automate this part.

While this is supported in the extraction module, the classification does not yet handle existing values from the supplier file so the AI will always suggest you to map products with family & categories at classification steps.

Can the connector push empty values to my PIM?

The connector will not send empty values to the Akeneo PIM. For example, if you remove a value during the normalization step, the attribute for that specific product will be excluded from the update. Consequently, the product will not be updated for that attribute.

How does the connector handle new families sent by my supplier?

If a supplier adds a new product family that has not been added to the PIM previously, the connector won’t be able to sync it, hence the SDM will block at the classification stage.

Can the connector populate reference entities?

Yes, the connector can update a reference entity value on a product because we consider this attribute just like a "select" option attribute.

Please note that the connector syncs the catalog structure in "read-mode" only. Therefore, it is impossible to update the structure from SDM (i.e., creating or updating reference entity attribute structures).

Can I force a manual fetch of my PIM structure myself from my SDM access

To synchronize the new Akeneo PIM configuration with your current project, follow these steps:

1. Navigate to your project connected to Akeneo PIM.
2. Go to the Configuration tab and select 'Connector.'
3. Click on 'Synchronize.'

To ensure the new PIM configuration is applied to your current step, you will need to go back and edit the previous step. This will reset the current step and update it with the new configuration.

Does the Akeneo connector handle table attributes?

Yes, it can, but not in its current form. The only requirement is to predefine the maximum number of rows in the table with your support contact at SDM. (cf PIM supported attributes and limitations)

Does SDM handle scopable attributes?

For scopable attributes with varying requirements across channels, SDM will create a separate version of each attribute for each channel, appending the channel name to the attribute. For non-scopable attributes with different requirements, SDM will apply the highest requirement level across all channels.
