Images and Attachments

Summary

Images and attachments are an integral part of your products. They should be available for all Salesforce Clouds and are therefor stored in a custom object that comes with the connector.

What happens when you update the mapping of assets?

Akeneo is the system of truth for all images and assets. If you change the mapping to another Asset Collection or Asset Collection Attribute the assets will be deleted on Salesforce and replaced with the new assets.

How to create new Asset Type

Asset Types can be used to structure your Assets in Salesforce. For a typical e-commerce scenario e.g. B2B Commerce you could have the Asset types:

  • Product Detail Page
  • Product List Page
  • Attachments

The easiest way to create a new Asset Type is to navigate to the Homepage and click on “Edit Configuration Details” on the Akeneo Product Asset Mappings overview.

There you can click on <<New>>

Here you fill in the required information.

Mapping of Salesforce Asset Types to Akeneo Asset Collections

For every Asset Type in Salesforce an Asset Collection in Akeneo and the attribute that stores a publicly available link with the Asset has to be configured in the mapping.

The Asset types have to be mapped in the Akeneo Catalog for App.

Asset Type availability in Akeneo Catalog App

For your newly created mapping, you want to upload the mapping schema to Akeneo Catalog App so that the new Asset Type is available to be mapped

What can go wrong?

Product is not existing

During a transfer a product creation might have failed. If an asset for that product exists it can not be added and an INVALID_FIELD transfer log with the message “Foreign key external ID: … not found for field akeneo__Akeneo_UUID__c” is created.
