When the Akeneo App runs in Custom Objects Mode, product information is written into the application's custom tables instead of native Salesforce Commerce structures. This guide explains how a Salesforce administrator can display this custom data—Variations, Translations, Media, Categories, and Associations—on the Product2 record page using the packaged components included in the Akeneo bundle.

Before You Start

Before modifying your product page layouts in the Lightning App Builder, you must ensure your app settings match your desired technical architecture:

1. Verify the Domain Configuration: Ensure your app target modes are left blank or explicitly configured to leverage custom tables. For detailed, step-by-step guidance on how to verify these properties in your Custom Metadata Types, please see our dedicated Post-Installation Configuration Guide.
2. Hybrid & Mixed Mode Capability: Please note that target modes can be defined independently per data domain. Depending on your business requirements, it is fully supported to mix object types—for example, you can choose to run Standard Mode for Variations and Categories to fuel native commerce features, while remaining in Custom Objects Mode for Translations and Media. Always ensure your layout components match the specific target mode of each domain.

Product Assets Visibility 

To view your Akeneo Product Assets for each of your products, you'll need to adjust the Product2 object layout. 

This is important because it ensures that the product assets from Akeneo are visible for each record. To do this, just follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Setup and search for Object Manager
2. Click on Product2 to open the object manager page
3. Click on Page Layouts and select the layout that you want to edit
4. Drag and drop the Akeneo Product Assets related list onto the layout
5. Adjust the columns to display Name, Asset Type, and Asset URL
6. Save the layout, and you should see the related list now

Once you complete a transfer of Akeneo Product Assets, you will be able to access each product asset directly from your related lists. 

Product Translations Visibility 

To view your Akeneo Product Translations for each of your products, you'll need to adjust the Product2 object layout. 

This is important because it ensures that the product translations from Akeneo are visible for each record. To do this, just follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Setup and search for Object Manager
2. Click on Product2 to open the object manager page
3. Click on Page Layouts and select the layout that you want to edit
4. Drag and drop the Akeneo Product Translations related list onto the layout
5. Adjust the columns to display Name, Language, Field API Name, Translation
6. Save the layout, and you should see the related list now

Once you complete a transfer of Akeneo Product Translation, you will be able to access each product attribute with the related locale directly from your related lists. 

Product Models and Variations Visibility

To view your Akeneo Product Variations and Axis Details for each of your variant products, you'll need to adjust the Product2 object layout. 

This is important because it ensures that the product variations from Akeneo are visible for each record. To do this, just follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Setup and search for Object Manager
2. Click on Product2 to open the object manager page
3. Click on Page Layouts and select the layout that you want to edit
4. Drag and drop the Akeneo Product Variant Axis Details related list onto the layout and Akeneo Variant Products
5. Adjust the columns of the Akeneo Product Variant Axis Details related list to display Locale, Attribute Label, and Attribute Value 
6. Save the layout, and you should see the related list now

Once you complete a transfer of Akeneo Product Models and variants, you will be able to access each product variant axis with the related information directly from your related lists. 

Product Categories Assignments Visibility 

To view your Akeneo Category assignments for each of your products, you'll need to adjust the Product2 object layout. 

This is important because it ensures that the product categories from Akeneo are visible for each record. To do this, just follow these simple steps:

1. Go to Setup and search for Object Manager
2. Click on Product2 to open the object manager page
3. Click on Page Layouts and select the layout that you want to edit
4. Drag and drop the Akeneo Product Category Products related list onto the layout
5. Adjust the columns of the related list  to display Name, Product Category  
6. Save the layout, and you should see the related list now

Once you complete a transfer of a category tree from Akeneo, you will be able to access each category to which the product is assigned directly from your product-related lists.
