So, you've just installed an AppExchange package and you're wondering what to do next. there are a few key configurations required to ensure the app transfers the right data.
Custom Metadata Records
A key step to complete your setup is to configure the custom metadata records. Information from these records will be visible during the mapping so you need to configure this accordingly.
- Configure Connector Settings
- Configure Product Asset Mappings to enable transfer of product assets.
Connector Settings
Before starting your first transfer you will need to adjust your connect settings:
- Go to your Akeneo App > Homepage
- On this screen you will see a section “Akeneo Connector Configuration Detail”
- Click on Edit Configuration Details
- Click on Edit when the Custom Metadata Type Record opens.
- Set the values according to your business requirements.
Configuration Option | Value | Details |
---|---|---|
Default Locale | en_US | |
Secondary Locale |
These settings determine the alternative locales to be used when transferring localised product data beyond the default locale. Separate each locale code with a comma and no whitespaces (e.g., fr-CA,de-DE,es-ES).
PIM Enabled LocalesWhen configuring locales in Salesforce make sure those locales ISO Codes are also enabled in the PIM
Settings > Locales > Enabled Locales |
|
Root Category Code | master |
This value will be the code of the category tree you wish to transfer from Akeneo to Salesforce |
Category Attribute Name | Category |
This value will be the the label of your mapping target for Categories in the Akeneo Catalog |
Minimal Transfer Logs | TRUE | The Minimal Transfer Logs boolean is a setting within the connector, influencing the logging behavior during data transfers. This boolean serves as a switch, determining whether the system should save a transfer log entry for every successful product transfer or only store log entry data in the case of errors that prevent successful syncing of records with Salesforce. |
Once completed save your changes and proceed to the next step.
Configure Product Asset Mappings
Scenario: I want to transfer product assets to Salesforce
I want to have for each product in Salesforce the original image which currently is configured in Akeneo and i need to be able to map this in the Catalog in Akeneo.
Akeneo requires you to define so-called “Product Asset Collection Categories” within the Catalog mapping schema.
You can define as many as you need depending on your asset collections structure or business requirements.
Example of Asset Collection Categories can be:
- PDP
- PLP
- Attachment
- Generic
- Service
- Manuals
- ….
How to configure
- Go to Setup and search for “Custom Metadata Types”
- Click on the "Manage Records" button next to the custom metadata type called “Akeneo Product Asset Mapping”
- Click New
- Populate your first Asset Mapping Type
Label | Value |
---|---|
Label | Original Image |
Akeneo Product Asset Mapping Name | Original Image |
Media Type | PDP |
Product Card Image | TRUE/FALSE |
The “Product Card” boolean is a parameter utilised in the connector catalog app to determine which product media asset type to use when previewing products inside the connector app.
When mapping product data in Akeneo you will now see the Akeneo Product Asset Mapping Name you created as a target.
Once you have created all your Product Asset Mapping Type and successfully completed a transfer you will be able to see on each product record in Salesforce the original image URL mapped to each product.
