Give your PIM team the permissions they need to set up Supplier Portals, manage Supplier Organizations, and share products with suppliers.
All SDM and PIM customers have access to the new supplier collaboration features. Please contact your Customer Success Manager if you have any questions.
Before you start
- Ask a PIM administrator who can edit User Roles to configure access for your internal team.
- Identify who needs to manage suppliers, control their Attribute access, share products, or manage Staging Catalog settings.
- Apply these permissions to internal PIM users. External suppliers access their assigned Supplier Portal through an invitation, not through these PIM administration screens.
Choose the permissions your team needs
Permissions are granted through User Roles. Enable the permissions that match each person's responsibilities rather than granting every permission to everyone.

| Product bulk actions | Assign products to a supplier organization | To make the supplier assignment action available when sharing products with a Supplier Organization. |
| Staged products | Manage Staging Catalog settings | To open SDM Staging Catalog under External access and configure Staging Catalog settings. |
| Staged products | Delete staged products | To allow deletion of staged products. Grant it only to team members responsible for that action; it is not needed to manage Supplier Organizations. |
The supplier assignment permission also does not replace access to the Product Grid or the general permission to view and execute bulk actions.
Open the External access screens
Once your User Role has the required permissions and the feature is available on your PIM:
- Open System.
- Locate the External access section.
- Select the card for the task you want to complete.
Troubleshooting
- Supplier Portals or Supplier Organizations is missing: Ask your administrator to check Manage supplier organizations and confirm that the feature is available on your PIM.
- Attribute selection is missing: Ask your administrator to add Manage supplier organization permissions to your User Role.
- SDM Staging Catalog is missing: Ask your administrator to check Manage Staging Catalog settings and Staging Catalog availability.
- You cannot assign products: Ask your administrator to check Assign products to a supplier organization, Product Grid access, and permission to view and execute bulk actions.
