Get familiar with the Product Edit Form: Attributes tab

Summary

Attributes tab in the Product Edit Form (BETA)

The Attributes tab is where you enrich your product information. It provides a fast and focused enrichment experience with tools to help you find, filter, and edit exactly the Attributes you need.

Click on a product on the grid or create a new product to display the Product Form. When the Beta is active, you will see an Attributes (BETA) label on the tab.

Select your working context (Channel/Locale)

Use the Channel and Locale drop-downs in the header of the Product Form to select the context you want to edit. You can switch between Channels or Locales at any time and save all changes at once.

For localizable Attributes (indicated by the Locale badge on the field), values are saved only for the working Locale. Global Attributes are displayed and editable regardless of the working Locale.

For more details on Locale activation, Channel configuration, and permission settings, see Enrich your product.

Edit a product

  1. Click on the Attributes tab.
  2. Select the Channel and Locale you want to edit.
  3. Change or complete your product information.
  4. Click on the Save button (top right-hand corner).

The product is updated and a new product version is created. You can view the product versions on the History tab.

By default, all Attributes are displayed. You can filter the Attributes shown using the Attribute groups multi-select filter and the Display dropdown at the top of the Attributes area.

For more details on permissions, Completeness, product versioning, Categories, and Associations, see Enrich your product.

Search for Attributes

A persistent search bar at the top of the Attributes area lets you find any Attribute by typing part of its label or code. Results filter across all Attribute Groups simultaneously as you type - no need to scroll through the entire form to locate a specific field.

Filter Attributes

Filter by Attribute Group

The Attribute groups dropdown supports multi-select: choose one or more groups to restrict the view to only those sections. All groups are shown by default.

This filter works in combination with the search bar and the Display filter for precise targeting.

Display filter

The Display dropdown lets you narrow the visible Attributes based on their enrichment status. The available options are:

  • All attributes - shows the complete Attribute set (default).
  • All missing required attributes - shows only required Attributes that have no value yet.
  • All missing attributes - shows all Attributes with no value (required and optional).
  • Localizable attributes - shows only Attributes that carry Locale-specific values.
  • Scopable attributes - shows only Attributes scoped to a specific Channel.
  • All improvable attributes - surfaces Attributes identified by Data Quality Insights as having room for improvement.

Combining filters

Combining the Display filter with the Attribute Groups filter is a powerful way to focus enrichment sessions - for example, showing only missing required Attributes within the Marketing group.

The search bar, Attribute Groups filter, and Display filter all work together. Applying multiple filters narrows the results progressively.

Views

Views let you save a specific combination of the Channel, Locale, Attribute Groups filter, and Display filter settings as a named preset. Once saved, a View can be recalled with a single click, instantly restoring the exact filter configuration you need for a given enrichment task.

The View selector appears in the product header, next to the Locale selector, when you are on the Attributes tab. It defaults to No selected view. Click the selector to choose an existing View or create a new one.

Create a View

  1. Set the Channel, Locale, Attribute Groups, and Display filter to the configuration you want to save.
  2. Click on the View selector in the product header.
  3. Click Save as new view.
  4. Enter a name for the View and confirm.

The View is saved and automatically selected.

Use a View

  1. Click on the View selector in the product header.
  2. Select the View you want to apply from the dropdown list.

The Channel, Locale, and filter settings are instantly restored to match the selected View.

Views are personal: each user manages their own Views. There are no shared or team Views.

Views are especially useful when different roles enrich different Attribute sets - for example, a Marketing View showing only the Marketing group filtered to missing required Attributes in English, and a separate Translation View showing all localizable Attributes.

Pinned Attributes

Pinned Attributes let you keep your most important Attribute values permanently visible in a side panel, regardless of which Attribute Group you are scrolling through. This eliminates the need to scroll back and forth when filling in Attributes you need to cross-reference constantly.

Open the Pinned Attributes panel

To open the Pinned Attributes panel, click the PINS button at the top right of the Attributes toolbar. The panel slides open on the right side of the form, displaying each pinned Attribute's label and its current value.

Configure Pinned Attributes

Pinning is configured in the Attribute settings, not from the Product Edit Form itself. To pin an Attribute:

  1. Go to Settings > Attributes.
  2. Select the Attribute you want to pin.
  3. Enable the Pin attribute toggle in the Attribute edit form.
  4. For Boolean Attributes, you can also configure tag colors for the Yes and No values.
  5. Save the Attribute.

The following Attribute types support pinning:

Attribute type Display in panel
Boolean (Yes/No) Colored tags (configurable Yes/No colors)
Simple select Colored tags
Multi select Colored tags
Reference entity (single link) Grey tags
Reference entity (collection) Grey tags
Date Plain text

Pinned Attributes are global: once an Attribute is pinned, it appears in the Pinned Attributes panel for all users across all products. You can pin up to 50 Attributes in total.

Pinned Attributes reflect live values and update as you save changes.

Compare / Edit

Compare / Edit is an evolution of the Compare / Translate mode. It is accessible from the ... menu in the product header.

Compare / Edit opens a multi-column experience that displays Attribute values from different scopes - Channels, Locales, or both - side by side. You can add as many comparison columns as you need (two, three, or even ten). The key difference from Compare / Translate is that all columns are fully editable: you can modify values in any column simultaneously, without switching your working Channel or Locale selector.

Open Compare / Edit

  1. Open the Product Form.
  2. Click on ... in the product header.
  3. Click Compare / Edit.
  4. Select the Channel and Locale for the new column.

All columns are fully editable. Changes in any column are saved when you click Save.

Add more columns

To add another comparison column, click the + button in the Compare / Edit toolbar, then choose the Channel and Locale for the new column. Each column you add shows a different context so you can compare and edit values across multiple Channels or Locales at once.

Use cases

This mode is designed for use cases such as:

  • Translation: view the source Locale values in one column while editing one or more target Locales in additional columns.
  • Cross-channel editing: compare and edit values for multiple Channels simultaneously to ensure consistency or manage intentional differences.
  • Multi-locale review: display several Locales at once to review translations or spot gaps without switching selectors.

Compare / Edit replaces the previous Compare / Translate mode. Unlike Compare / Translate, where the reference panel was read-only, all columns in Compare / Edit are fully editable.

Browser-native fields

Some Attribute fields, such as date pickers, rely on your browser's built-in controls. This means the appearance and behavior of these fields may vary slightly depending on which browser you use (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge). If a field looks or behaves differently than expected, try using a different browser or make sure your current browser is up to date.

Ask AI

The ASK AI button in the product header opens an AI assistance panel. It currently offers two capabilities:

  • Smart Fill - automatically generates suggested content for empty or incomplete Attributes based on the product's existing data.
  • Smart Translate - translates Attribute values from one Locale to another using AI, helping accelerate multilingual enrichment.

Click ASK AI to open the panel, then select the capability you want to use. Close the panel at any time using the × button.

For more information on AI capabilities and how to configure them, see Using Generative AI (With or Without AI Configurations).

UI Extensions

If your Akeneo instance has UI Extensions configured, additional buttons and panels may appear in the Attributes tab. These are displayed as action buttons in the toolbar above the Attribute Groups - for example, CUSTOM BUTTON PRODUCT or EXTENSION PANEL - and can open a custom side panel on the right side of the form.

The content and behavior of UI Extensions are defined by your organization's developers or integration partners. Contact your Akeneo administrator for details on which extensions are active in your instance. For more information, see the Extensions Framework article.
